Retired coach Warren
Altounian passed away on April 22
after a lengthy illness.
He
taught Adaptive Physical Education in
PUSD for 38 years, coached football and
cross-country, and established the
soccer program at Muir High School in
fall of 1972.
Warren Altounian (1973)
At Muir, Mr.
Altounian coached nine league boys
soccer titles and had numerous "All-CIF"
players and one "All-American". Coach
Altounian retired from PUSD in June
2010. In addition to athletics, he was
dedicated to academics and saw education
as the path to success for all of his
students and players. He encouraged all
of his students and players to attend
college, transfer, or pursue a
vocational path. A scholarship has been
established in his name by several of
his former players. Mr. Altounian
himself was also a graduate of Pasadena
High School.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Coach
Altounian's family, friends, and
students at this time. Diane D'Arco
